ZSF angry over further suspension of internet services in Churachandpur, calls it ‘blatant injustice’

The Zomi Students’ Federation have asked concerned authorities to restore internet services at the earliest

The Zomi Students’ Federation (ZSF) has expressed its disappointment at internet services being suspended for another 5 days in Churachandpur district in light of the improving law and order situation in the area.

In a release issued by the students’ federation, it described the extension of the internet ban as nothing short of blatant injustice.

It pointed out that internet was being freely provided in Imphal and the valley districts despite the uncontrollable law and order situation in those districts.

The release mentioned that the recent incidents of violence in Imphal such as the abduction of the President of the All Manipur Students’ Union (AMSU), the burning of the office of the United Committee of Manipur (UCM) at Lamphel, the burning of Macha Leima School at Palace Compound, to name a few instances have more than demonstrated the uncontrollable chaos in the valley districts.

Given the improving law and order situation in Lamka which even incentivized ZSF-GHQ to relax the curfew it had enforced from the 16th of this month, the extension of suspension of internet services in the entire revenue jurisdiction of Churachandpur district while not doing so in the valley districts, which are in complete chaos, is nothing short of injustice, it said.

The federation further stated that internet services are of utmost importance for functioning of various essential services and asked concerned authorities to restore internet services at the earliest.
