ZPM Secures 330 Seats in Landmark Mizoram Village and Local Council Elections

In a historic triumph, the Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) has secured 330 seats in the 2025 Mizoram Village and Local Council Elections, marking a significant political milestone in the state.
The party’s remarkable victory, which comes for the first time in these council elections, has solidified its position as a dominant force in Mizoram’s local governance, setting the stage for a new era of leadership and representation.
The election, which covered 543 Village Councils and 110 Local Councils across Aizawl and Lunglei municipalities, was held peacefully with no major disruptions, saw a total of 441,429 registered voters casting their ballots, including 217,340 male voters and 224,089 female voters on February 12.
ZPM’s victory represents a breakthrough for the ruling regional party, as it claimed a majority in the Village and Local Councils for the first time.
