The Assam Rifles, however has said that the Indian side remains unaffected by the Myanmar aerial strikes
The Young Mizo Association (YMA), Tuipuiral Group of Mizoram strongly condemned the alleged bombing of Camp Victoria, the headquarters of the Chin National Front (CNF) in the Mizoram-Myanmar border by Myanmar Military on January 10, 2023, which is said to have led to the deaths of five ethnic-Chin opposition soldiers and the destruction of civilian structures.
The YMA claimed that the bomb had not just hit Indian soil but also partly damaged an Indian vehicle which was near the Tiau river, the international border, to collect sand.
The Assam Rifles, however has said that the Indian side remains unaffected by the Myanmar aerial strikes.
It is to be mentioned that the attacks are said to have started at around 3:30 p.m. on January 10 targeting Camp Victoria.
The YMA alleged that the military jet fighters were “disrespectfully flying over the Indian side within the area of YMA, several times for the past two months, and then dropped bombs on the very Indian soil.”
It has claimed that the Military Government of Myanmar has violated international law on both Indian soil and airspace.
YMA strongly condemned the Military Government of Myanmar for breaking the law.
“Many farmers and workers have been forced out of fear to stop their works when jet-fighters continued to drop bombs two more times,” it said in a press communique.
YMA has urged the Indian government to act quickly to prevent Myanmar military jet fighters from bombing Indian territory and flying over Indian airspace.
The National Unity Government (NUG) too has strongly condemned the bombing incident and expressed condolences to the families of those who allegedly died because of the bombings. NUG pledged to do everything within the law to ensure justice for those dead.
Hundreds of Kuki Chin refugees have sought refuge in Mizoram, which borders Myanmar, after the military regime took control of Myanmar in February 2021.
