In reference to the BJP-NDPP seat-sharing formula, Patton said, "NDPP is our alliance partner, so I have no comment on NDPP seat allotment"

Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister and BJP leader Yanthungo Patton has exuded confidence in coming back to power with a thumping majority defeating Janata Dal (United) candidate Senchumo (NSN) Lotha in the upcoming Assembly elections in the state scheduled to be held on February 27, 2023.

“I have full confidence that I will come back to power. I will be elected with a thumping majority,” said Patton.

When asked about his level of confidence in his ability to take back his position as Deputy Chief Minister and form the government, Patton responded, “With our NDPP alliance under the leadership of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, we will form the government, and for the leadership, it depends on the Central leaders.”

In reference to the BJP-NDPP seat-sharing formula, Patton said, “NDPP is our alliance partner, so I have no comment on NDPP seat allotment.”

Patton is contesting the election from Tyui Assembly constituency. He is the sitting MLA of Tyui.

He contested for the BJP in the 2018 and 2008 Assembly elections, and for the Naga People’s Front (NPF) in the 2013 elections. In the 2018 elections, he won the Tyui seat with 11709 votes.

Meanwhile, three candidates who fought the 2018 elections as Patton’s strongest opponents–former Naga Peoples Front (NPF) MLA and intending candidate from Tyui, Yankithung Yanthan, JD(U) candidate Chobathung Odyuo, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Dr.Thungchamo Ezung have come out to extend their support to Patton this election and to make him Deputy CM of Nagaland once again.

Yanthan urged his supporters to forget, forgive, and unite and make Patton Deputy CM once again.

The two other leaders also exuded confidence that under Patton’s leadership not only the Wokha district but also the state will shine.

The Assembly Elections in Nagaland are slated to be held on February 27. The results will be declared on March 2.
