While great strides have been made in the field of medical technology, India still carries the burden of most diseases.
As observed across the world, state level World Health Day was observed today in Sikkim with a vision to eliminate tuberculosis by 2022.
The international theme for the celebration was Universal Health Coverage. Sikkim Chief Minister Pawan Chamling, while addressing the gathering made various announcements.
A declaration of awarding Rs 5 Lakh to TB free Gram Panchayat Unit was made by the Chief Minister. Similarly, TB free Zilla Territory will receive Rs 10 lakh and every TB Patient will be given financial assistance of Rs 3000 per month.
