Was the woman from Assam’s Dima Hasao whose body was found by the river side in Pawri Garhwal District of Uttarakhad, raped and murdered and then dumped by the river side in Uttarakhand?

The mother of the victim has made some big allegations in the FIR filed at the Haflong Police Station, seeking justice for her daughter.

She has alleged that her daughter was forced to travel to Rishikesh and then sexually assaulted and murdered.

She revealed that her daughter was unwilling to go to Delhi for the June 5th RRB exam, but her former classmate and boyfriend Hemant Sharma insisted that she should sit for the exam in Delhi instead of Guwahati. The mother alleged that had he not insisted her to go to Delhi, her daughter would have taken the exam in Guwahati.

The complainant further said that after writing the exam, when the woman was back in her room in Delhi, Hemant Sharma and his friend identified as Pankaj Kokar allegedly forced her to check out of the room and go with them to Rishikesh, where they checked into a hotel.

The mother in her complaint stated that she strongly suspects that her daughter was sexually assaulted that night as she did not talk in her usual manner with her later that night. The mother further stated that her daughter used to text if she was unable to call due to some reason, but that night she neither called, nor texted and since June 6 they did not get her call nor any text message.

She alleged that this seems to be a pre-planned incident, where the accused persons intended to sexually assault and possibly murder her daughter. The mother has rejected the accidental drowning theory.

To back her point the mother further stated that her daughter was camping in a tourist location with Hemant when she stepped out of the camp at around 8pm and never returned. When Hemant informed the police after a few hours, her phone was still ringing, the mother claimed adding that this clearly indicates that she had not gone missing naturally. The mother, in her complaint, further stated that she believes her daughter was raped and robbed as she was carrying money.

The woman was reported missing in Delhi from June 5.

Dima Hasao police has forwarded the FIR to Pawri Garhwal Police who is investigating the case as the woman was found dead in Uttarakhand.
