A political war of words has erupted between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the CPI(M) with both parties accusing each other of being involved in financial corruption.
After CPM state secretary and former MP Jitendra Chowdhury accused the BJP-led government of indulging in collecting cut money from contractors and suppliers, Tripura ICA minister Sushanta Chowdhury has now hit back at the CPM for allegedly trying to defame the ruling dispensation with baseless accusations.

Addressing a press conference in the secretariat on Monday, Sushanta Chowdhury dared the CPM state secretary to substantiate his allegation with proof or be ready to seek a formal apology, failing which the government will initiate legal action against him.
The ICA minister also said that unlike the previous Left Front government, in which Jitendra Chowdhury was the Rural Development minister there has not been a single instance of corruption by any minister in the present BJP-IPFT government.
Chowdhury added that the BJP on the other hand has brought in transparency and the CPIM is trying to tarnish the image of the government in a bid to gain political mileage.
