Vice-President Dhankhar to Visit Guwahati And Shillong On Oct 16-17

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar will begin a two-day visit to Assam and Meghalaya on Wednesday. The visit will focus on boosting development initiatives in the region.

According to an official statement released on Tuesday, Vice President Dhankhar will preside as the chief guest and lay the foundation stone of the Meghalaya Skill and Innovation Hub at Mawdiangdiang in New Shillong. This project is expected to significantly enhance skill development and foster innovation in Meghalaya.

During his visit, Dhankhar will also tour the IT Park and Raj Bhavan in Shillong. Additionally, he is set to meet the Chief Minister and other senior officials to discuss various developmental issues and initiatives.

Ahead of his visit, the Shillong Traffic Police (STP) issued directives to ensure smooth travel for both the Vice President and the public. Citizens have been advised to avoid traveling in and around Shillong unless necessary.

Moreover, heavy and medium motor vehicles, including essential goods carriers such as gas cylinder vehicles and oil tankers, will not be permitted on certain roads leading to Shillong and Sohra on October 16 and 17 until the Vice President’s departure.
