Agarwal further highlighted that the ambitious project would generate direct and indirect employment opportunities for nearly 1 lakh youths.

Vedanta Group Chairman Anil Agarwal has announced a massive investment of Rs 50,000 crore in Assam’s oil and gas sector over the next 3-4 years. Speaking at the Advantage Assam 2.0 investment summit, he revealed that the group’s subsidiary, Cairn Oil & Gas, has already infused Rs 2,500 crore into the state.

“Today, 90 percent of Assam’s petroleum production is controlled by the government, while private players hold the remaining 10 percent. We are among the private players, and within two years, we will produce 1 lakh barrels of oil and gas per day in the state,” Agarwal stated.

He stressed Assam’s vast natural resources and potential to emerge as a global hydrocarbon hub. “Assam is poised to become the world’s mega basin. With this investment, the region will transform into a dominant energy powerhouse,” he said.

Agarwal further highlighted that the ambitious project would generate direct and indirect employment opportunities for nearly 1 lakh youths in the region. Drawing a parallel between Assam and Houston, USA, he noted similarities in topography, resources, and potential, envisioning a bright future for Assam as a leading energy hub.
