Union Home Secy Chairs Crucial Meet in Guwahati to Push Peace Accords Implementation

The meeting, Chief Secretary of Assam, Ravi Kota was present discussed proper rehabilitation options of rebels who joined mainstream.

Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan today chaired a crucial Joint Monitoring Committee meeting in Guwahati to review the implementation of peace accords signed with insurgent groups like the ULFA- Pro Talk faction, All Adivasi National Liberation Army (AANLA), Karbi National Liberation Army (KNLA), Kamatapur Liberation Organisation (KLO) and others.

Assam Chief Secretary Ravi Kota too was present at the meeting that focussed on the effective implementation of the various clauses of the peace accords signed between these groups and the government, with the aim of ensuring proper rehabilitation for the cadres who have embraced mainstream life.

Former ULFA pro-talks leaders Arabinda Rajkhowa and Anup Chetia alogn with leaders of the other outfits attended the meeting.

Speaking exclusively to Northeast Live, Dipen Nayak, Chairman of AANLA, stated that the meeting was been convened to ensure that the commitments outlined in the peace accords are properly implemented, which is essential for the comprehensive rehabilitation and reintegration of former insurgents into society.

Anup Chetia, speaking to Northeast Live after the meeting said that the meeting was held under the guidance of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and it was a fruitful meeting.
