The United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent or ULFA-I has gone on record to say that the missing Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) employee Ritul Saikia is not in their custody.

ULFA-I Commander-in-chief Paresh Baruah has categorically denied Assam Police’s statement that said Saikia was still in the custody of the outfit.

Speaking to group channel News Live’s Chief Managing Editor Syed Zarir Hussain, Baruah alleged that both Assam Police and the Army has been deceiving the people of the state on the matter.

Earlier, Assam Director General of Police (DGP) Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta while talking to mediapersons in Guwahati said that Ritul Saikia is alive and is still in the banned outfit’s custody.

He further said that police is tracing the location and are coordinating with various agencies to recover him.

Meanwhile, the family members of the abducted ONGC employee continues to be devastated. With both the police and the ULFA-I failing to say anything on Saikia’s whereabouts, the victim’s family is now left with no option.
