Yet another ULFA-Independent cadre who managed to escape the Myanmar Army’s crackdown on Northeast rebels was apprehended by the Assam Rifles from a bordering location under Nampong police station in Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh.

A 12th standard drop out, Dhanjit joined the ULFA-I and went for guerrilla warfare training along with 10 others to Taga in Myanmar on September 2018.

Following crackdown on the Northeast insurgent outfits by the Myanmar Army, the rebels are now returning back with stories of food and supplies shortage.

After the attack by the Myanmar army upon NE based insurgent groups, the NSCN (K) and the ULFA continue to languish in the villages and jungles of the neighbouring country.

Many cadres have either been arrested by the Myanmar army or managed to sneak into India after which they surrendered or were apprehended by the security forces in Arunachal Pradesh or upper Assam.

Apart from facing acute shortage of food, medicines etc. the cadres have been forced to work as daily wage workers in the villages of Myanmar for survival.

Another cadre Surajit Moran had surrendered before the security forces at Mohong village in Assam’s Tinsukia district recently.
