UDP General Secretary Jemino Mawthoh Quits. Will His Next Stop Be BJP?

The former Nongthymmai MLA is yet to officially announce his resignation.

In a significant political development in Meghalaya, Jemino Mawthoh, General Secretary of United Democratic Party (UDP) has resigned from the party after serving the party for over 15 years. His exit has sparked intense speculation about his next political destination many hinting that he might join the BJP.

Confirming the resignation, UDP Working President Paul Lyngdoh stated, “All I know is that he (Jemino Mawthoh) has tendered his resignation.” An official statement is awaited.

Mawthoh, a former legislator and the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance’s consensus candidate for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, has not yet commented on his departure. However, sources close to the veteran politician revealed that he has been approached by multiple parties eager to capitalise on his strong public image and grassroots network. His silence has only intensified the suspense surrounding his future moves.
