Two More Arrested In Assam For Pro-Pakistan Post, Tally Rises To 11 So Far

Both the accused have been identified as Baktar Hussain barbhuiyan and Md Imran Hussain Borbhuyan.
Two more persons have been arrested in Assam’s Cachar district on charges of posting inflammatory content on social media with the intent of promoting inter-community hatred and disturbing public harmony.
Both the accused had posted contents on social media pertaining to the horrific Pahalgam terror attack.
Both the accused have been identified as Baktar Hussain barbhuiyan and Md Imran Hussain Borbhuyan.
Further investigation into the matter is underway.
Earlier today, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the National Security Act (NSA) will be slapped on all those who have supported the Pahalgam terror attack and Pakistan.
“Yesterday, the secretary of the Chatra Mukti Sangram Parishad was arrested for supporting Pakistan. Whoever speaks against the nation will be arrested. If needed, NSA will be slapped on them,” said CM Sarma.
The Assam CM’s big statement came in even as he stated that the crackdown on Pakistan supporters will continue unabated in the state.
As many as eleven persons have been arrested so far for directly or indirectly supporting Pakistan and depending on the heinous terror attack in Pahalgam.
The arrested individuals are:
- Jabir Hussain from Hailakandi
- A.K. Bahauddin from Silchar
- Javed Mazumder from Silchar
- Mahahar Mia alias Mujihirul Islam from Morigaon
- Aminul Islam, AIUDF MLA from Dhing constituency, Nagaon
- Sahil Ali from Sivasagar district
- Jarif Ali, also known as Sharif Sing, from Barpeta
- One individual from Hajo (identity yet to be officially disclosed)
- Anil Bania, District Secretary of the Satra Mukti Sangram Parishad from Biswanath district
- Baktar Hussain Barbhuiyan from Cachar district
- Md Imran Hussain Borbhuyan from Cachar district
This act empowers the Central and State Governments to detain a person to prevent him or her from acting in any manner prejudicial to the security of India and India’s relations with foreign countries.
