Two Arrested with Weapons and Ammunition in Churachandpur

The accused have been booked at Churachandpur police station under Sections 25(1-C) of the Arms Act and 3(5) of the BNS Act.

In an joint operation by personnel of the 37 Assam Rifles Khuga Battalion and Churachandpur district police led to the arrest of two individuals involved in an alleged arms deal near Lamjang village, Manipur.

The operation, launched at 6:00 PM on December 19, resulted in the apprehension of Jangneu Haokip and Lilin Haokip, both residents of Koite village.

According to police sources, the recovered items include a 9mm Carbine Machine Gun 1A1 bearing registration number 16024488, SAF-1994 suspected to be a looted police weapon, a country-made pistol with a magazine, 118 rounds of .315 bore rifle ammunition, five rounds of 9mm pistol ammunition, a white Toyota Glanza car bearing registration number MN 01 AG 4416, and two mobile phones, a Redmi A1 and an Oppo phone.

The accused have been booked at Churachandpur police station under Sections 25(1-C) of the Arms Act and 3(5) of the BNS Act. Police sources confirmed that the accused will be produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court in Churachandpur today to seek police custody for further investigation.
