Twin Ropeways to Kamakhya Temple Soon, Says Assam CM After Temple Visit

Twin Ropeways to Kamakhya: The Chief Minister also mentioned that feasibility studies for several other ropeway routes are being carried out.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday announced that two ropeways would soon be constructed to ease access to the Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati. Speaking after offering prayers to Goddess Kamakhya along with his family, the Chief Minister said that the ropeways will enhance convenience for pilgrims and boost tourism.
“One ropeway will be constructed from Kamakhya railway station to the temple, and another from Sonaram field to Kamakhya Temple. Work on both projects is currently underway. The tender process has already been floated,” he said while addressing the media.
The Chief Minister also mentioned that feasibility studies for several other ropeway routes are being carried out.
He added that although the Ambubachi Festival concluded two days ago, he could not visit earlier due to the huge turnout of devotees. “I got the opportunity today to have darshan of Maa Kamakhya. Along with my family, I came here to offer prayers to her. I prayed for the wellbeing of the people of Assam,” he said.
CM Sarma also expressed gratitude to the Temple Management Committee, the Tourism Department, Minister Ranjeet Kumar Dass, and others involved in successfully organising the Ambubachi Festival.
It may be mentioned that the Maa Kamakhya Temple is visited by lakhs of people, not only from across the country but also from other parts of the world. Recently, prominent personalities such as Mukesh Ambani, Gautam Adani, and Sachin Tendulkar, among others, have also visited the temple.
