Meghalaya: Tura LS MP Saleng Sangma Furious Over NPP’s Alleged BJP-Congress Nexus Claims

Expressing his frustration, Saleng stated that such statements are often taken as the "gospel truth" without scrutiny.
Congress leader and Member of Parliament from Tura Lok Sabha seat, Saleng A Sangma today expressed strong frustration over allegations that the Congress Party had a nexus with the BJP during the Lok Sabha elections in Tura.
Sangma questioned the credibility of claims made by BJP leaders, particularly Meghalaya BJP vice president and Tura MDC Bernard Marak.
It is to be mentioned here that a video which has been doing rounds on social media, shows Bernard Marak claiming that the Congress won the Tura Lok Sabha seat because of the BJP’s support this year.
Expressing his frustration, Saleng stated that such statements are often taken as the “gospel truth” without scrutiny.
He clarified that neither he nor VPP’s Ricky Syngkon were elected to the Parliament by the BJP and emphasized that the BJP and Congress are fundamentally incompatible, like fire and water, and would never mingle.
“Congress and BJP are like fire and water. We will never mingle at all. Moreover, I think they have lost their mind just because I have become MP after so many years,” said Saleng Sangma.
Responding to NPP leader and State Education Minister Rakkam A Sangma’s statement that the Congress had collaborated with the BJP during the Tura Lok Sabha polls, as allegedly revealed by Bernard Marak, Saleng Sangma also challenged the NPP to remove the two BJP leaders from the government if there was no alliance.
He pointed out that while the BJP and NPP are aligned at the national level, Meghalaya is frequently perceived as an NDA-ruled state in Delhi. According to Sangma, election candidates seek support from individuals rather than relying on party affiliations like the BJP.
Earlier, speaking exclusively to Northeast Live, Bernard Marak has said that his speech has been misinterpreted. He also accused the NPP of mistreating its ally BJP.
