Tripura: Yaba tablets worth Rs 22 lakh seized, 2 held

Following a joint operation of the intelligence branch and Kadamtala police station, two persons were apprehended with Yaba tablets worth over Rs 22 lakh from a village close to Bangladesh border in North Tripura district.
The arrested persons were identified as Faruk Ahmed Chowdhury and Bishal Shabdakar, both residents under the Kadamtala police station.
Police said they received information that two youths would smuggle a huge quantity of Yaba tablets to Bangladesh through the road at Baragol Maheshpur.
Based on a tip-off, the intelligence branch of North Tripura district police and the Kadamtala Police station conducted a raid in the Baragol area of Maheshpur road.
A total of 4,400 Yaba tablets in 22 packets were recovered from their possession. The two accused are currently in police custody.
The approximate value of the recovered Yaba tablets is estimated to be around Rs 22 lakh.
The Kadamtala police station has started an investigation. The detainees will be produced before the Dharmanagar district court on Tuesday.
