Tripura Police Seize Over 1 Lakh Yaba Tablet

When the police searched the truck, they found the Yaba pills hidden in a secret compartment inside the vehicle.
Tripura Police caught 1.20 lakh Yaba tablets, worth about Rs. 1 crore, from a truck that was carrying cement. Acting on a specific information Tripura police seize the huge quantity of Yaba tablet on Sunday morning in the Agartala bypass area.
The truck, bearing registration number NL-01-AJ-0403, was stopped while driving from Meghalaya to Sonamura in Sepahijala district. When the police searched the truck, they found the Yaba pills hidden in a secret compartment inside the vehicle.
Two truck drivers, Jamal Hussain and Mintu Baman , both from Bishalgarh in Sepahijala district, were arrested.
Dr. Kiran Kumar, the Superintendent of Police for West Tripura, “We will take the arrested drivers to court and ask for police remand to find out more about the drug smuggling network.”
The operation was led by SDPO Sadar Deba Prasad Roy, with help from officers at the East Agartala and West Agartala police stations.
Yaba tablets, often called “crazy pills,” mainly come from Myanmar and are very popular in Bangladesh. Because of its location, Tripura is often used as a route for smuggling these drugs.
