Former Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar on Thursday alleged that the incumbent Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha was making a false claim regarding the presence of law and order and crime against women in Tripura, which is much better than the Left Front regime.

Replying to a question on CM Saha’s claim, Sarkar said it was “absolutely wrong and far from reality.” Sarkar attacked the BJP and said they have been thinking that way to save their faces.

Sarkar added that when victims and their family members go to police stations to register complaints, police do not register but rather suggest sorting out the issue with the perpetrators through discussion.

Sarkar took a dig at the ruling BJP-led government and said that if anyone thinks that the attacks against CPIM were isolated, they are wrong. He further alleged that the ruling BJP is attacking every opposition voice in the state.

On being asked if the CPIM-led Left Front is going to form a pre poll alliance with other parties like TIPRA Motha and Congress, the former CM also indicated that an effort is on and only before the election will it take on its final shape.

The CPIM’s top leader said, “TIPRA Motha has to decide with whom they are going to form an alliance.” He also stressed CPIM’s role in uniting the opposition, including TIPRA Motha and Congress, to give a tough fight to the BJP here.
