Tripura Deputy Chief Minister and state finance minister Jishnu Debbarma today presented the state budget estimated over Rs 26,000 crore and tax free.
This was the 5th and the last budget of the present BJP-IPFT government in Tripura ahead of the state polls next year.
The no new tax budget has been presented with a deficit of Rs 559.74 crore. This year’s budget increased by 18.34 percent compared to last year’s budget.
While tabling the budget, Debbarma said that there is no new tax proposed in the budget and the deficit would be covered by better fiscal management and smart tax collections. Debbarma further said that the philosophy of the budget is collective action and inclusive growth with better tax management.
The budget contains several new plans including Rs 1000 crore for infrastructure and development under the Suvarna Jayanti Tripura Nirman Yojana scheme besides increasing the social pension from Rs 1000 to Rs 2000. The state GSDP has been estimated to grow at 13.28 percent with an enhancement of 20.66 percent in education and 23 percent in health sector.
