CM Saha announced Rs 4 lakh as an ex-gratia assistance to the next of kin of the deceased and Rs 2.5 lakh to those injured
The death toll in the Tripura floods has gone up to 26 and two are missing. Chief Minister Manik Saha has announced Rs 4 lakh as an ex-gratia assistance to the next of kin of the deceased and Rs 2.5 lakh to those injured.
The CM pegged the losses at a staggering Rs 15,000 crore indicating that the entire state has been devastated by the unprecedented floods, the worst in case in 67 years since 1956.
An all-party meeting was convened today in Agartala under the leadership of Chief Minister Manik Saha to address the severe flood situation that has left large parts of Tripura battered and bruised.
The meeting saw leaders from various political parties set aside their differences to collectively strategize on relief measures for those affected by the disaster.
Briefing the media after the meeting, CM Saha praised the cross-party cooperation exhibited during the discussions.
A significant outcome of the meeting was the directive issued to schools across the state to provide free textbooks to students who have been impacted by the floods. This initiative aims to ensure that the education of young learners is not further disrupted by the calamity.
With concerns mounting over the potential outbreak of waterborne diseases, particularly due to water contamination and compromised sanitation facilities, the Chief Minister announced a comprehensive sanitation drive.
Bleaching powder will be sprayed in shelter homes, flood-affected residences, and educational institutions to mitigate the health risks.
Chief Minister Saha also highlighted the extensive relief efforts already underway.
He informed that 700 medical camps have been established in recent days, providing essential healthcare services to those in need.
Additionally, approximately 23,000 food packets have been air-dropped to areas where residents remain stranded due to floodwaters.
The state administration continues to prioritize rescue and relief operations, with a focus on minimizing further loss of life and ensuring the swift recovery of the affected regions.
The all-party meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to work together for the betterment of the state and its citizens during this time of crisis.
