Tripura elections 2024: Ensuring 100% voter turnout, EC launches home voting in West Tripura

In West Tripura all total of 9596 persons above the age of 85 years and 8213 persons with disability (PwD) are eligible to cast their ballots.

In a proactive move to ensure a hundred percent voting turnout in the forthcoming Lok sabha elections and by-poll for Ramnagar in Tripura, the Election Commission in the West Tripura parliamentary constituency has launched a pioneering initiative of home voting on Wednesday. The home voting shall continue for two days – April 10 and 12.

In West Tripura all total of 9596 persons above the age of 85 years and 8213 persons with disability (PwD) are eligible to cast their ballots.

The Election Commission of India has introduced the “Vote-from-Home” option through postal ballots, specifically targeting two distinct voter groups: individuals aged 85 years and older, and persons with disabilities with a minimum disability rating of 40 percent.

The Election Commission’s initiative underscores its unwavering dedication to inclusivity and accessibility in democratic practices.

The on duty polling officers visited houses at different corners garnered appreciation from voters for their comprehensive outreach.

The voting commenced at 9 a.m, with election teams diligently ensuring transparency and tight security to facilitate a free and fair voting process, devoid of any intimidation.

Expressing gratitude, voters commend the election administration and officers for facilitating their fundamental right to vote from the comfort of their homes.

It may be mentioned that Tripura is going to Lok Sabha polls in 2 phases- April 19 and April 26. Polling will also be held for by-election to the Ramnagar legislative assembly constituency on April 19.
