Tripura Congress Holds Rally in Agartala Seeking Assistance for Flood-Hit People

The protesters condemned both the state and central governments for their alleged failure to provide adequate assistance to flood victims.
The Tripura Pradesh Congress organized a rally in Agartala, today, demanding appropriate compensation for farmers, fishery owners and other working class people who lost their livelihood to landslides and floods.
A rally was carried out from Congress Bhavan, with participants holding flags and banners.
The protesters condemned both the state and central governments for their alleged failure to provide adequate assistance to flood victims.
The protest was led by former Minister and Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman, who targeted the “double engine” BJP government, accusing both the state and central administrations of neglecting the people of Tripura.
Addressing the media, Roy Barman said, “The lack of financial assistance from the Centre clearly shows the attitude towards Tripura by the BJP-led central government. People here are suffering from hunger and severe financial distress, and yet their plight is ignored.”
He further alleged that while the Congress is actively working to raise awareness about the need for compensation, submitting memorandums to Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs) across the state, BJP goons have been attacking Congress workers to suppress the voice of the people.
“This government has turned into a fascist, autocratic regime where the people’s voice is silenced,” Roy Barman said.
He emphasized that Congress remains committed to fighting for the rights of common citizens, standing as the voice of the people.
