Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb launched the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana to provide cashless and paperless access to healthcare services across various hospitals in the state. Over 4

Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb launched the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana to provide cashless and paperless access to healthcare services across various hospitals in the state.

Over 4 lakh families will be benefitted from this project which accounts to around 70 per cent of the state population.

The scheme which is now being introduced only in the Agartala Medical College and the Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital will soon be made available in the 62 hospitals in the state.

Health smart card will be provided to the beneficiaries and the government will bear expenses up to 5 lakh rupees.

Along with the Chief Minister, Health Minister Sudip Roy Burman, Chief Secretary Sanjib Rajan and Health Secretary Samarjit Bhowmik were present at the launch.

The scheme was announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 15.
