The oath-taking ceremony of the new faces is scheduled to take place tomorrow at the Darbar Hall of Raj Bhavan at 1:30 PM.
After days of speculation, it is now officially confirmed that Tripura is set to witness a cabinet reshuffle tomorrow. The anticipated changes is likely to include the induction of new faces, reshuffling of portfolios, and possibly the removal of underperforming Ministers.
The oath-taking ceremony of the new faces is scheduled to take place tomorrow at the Darbar Hall of Raj Bhavan at 1:30 PM.
Sources close to the development suggest that former Minister Ram Pada Jamatia, known for his hardline stance on Hindu issues, is likely to return to the cabinet. His inclusion is expected to bolster BJP’s outreach among tribal and conservative voters.
Amid mounting pressure from alliance partner TIPRA Motha, led by royal scion Pradyot Kishore Debbarma, demands were raised for the inclusion of another Motha leader in the cabinet.
Earlier Forest Minister Animesh Debbarma had expressed dissatisfaction over his departments and was pushing for significant portfolios such as Tribal Welfare.
TIPRA Motha party leadership has expressed dissatisfaction especially in light of delays in the implementation of the Tiprasa Accord and recently over the state’s handling of illegal settlements following a Ministry of Home Affairs notification.
Another major change being speculated is the possible exit of Tinku Roy, the current Social Welfare and Social Education Minister. Sources suggest that Kalyani Saha Roy, presently the Chief Whip, or Kishore Barman, also a former BJP organiser in West Bengal and at present MLA of Nalchar, could replace him.
Tinku Roy, considered close to CM Saha, is being considered as the next state BJP president, a role seen as crucial for ensuring internal cohesion and effective party management ahead of upcoming electoral challenges.
The reshuffle also comes in the backdrop of criticism directed at CM Saha for retaining multiple key portfolios including Home, Health, PWD, and Education. There are indications he may now divest some of these responsibilities to ensure more efficient governance.
