Tripura bags two national awards for good governance in rural areas

In a proud moment for Tripura, the state won two national awards for its efforts towards good governance in rural areas during the last financial year.
Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha announced in a social media post that the Kumarghat Block Advisory Committee of Unakoti district and Bagmara Village Committee of Gomati district under Rupaichari block have been awarded the Nanaji Deshmukh Sarbottama Panchayat Satata Vikash Puraskar and Carbon Neutral Vishesh Panchayat Puraskar, respectively. The former comes with a cash incentive of INR 1.5 crore.
The awards will be presented by President Droupadi Murmu in New Delhi on April 24, National Panchayati Raj Day.
Saha congratulated the officials of the panchayat department, including the ground-level functionaries and panchayat representatives at all levels, for their achievement.
Tripura was recognized with the title of excellence award by the Centre for the implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission, and Agartala city received one of the best awards among small cities in the country under the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana (urban).
