Tripura: 3 Bangladeshi nationals arrested for illegally crossing into India

Three Bangladeshi nationals have been arrested in Tripura for illegally entering India.
They were arrested from Dharmanagar under the North Tripura district yesterday.
Those arrested have been identified as Mansoor Ali, Mohammad Kaim, and Russell Ahmed.
Speaking to Northeast Live, Himadri Sarkar, Officer-in-Charge of Dharmanagar Police Station said that preliminary investigations revealed that the individuals had crossed the border from Bangladesh into India without valid passports and had been residing in Dharmanagar for a long time.
Soon after their arrest, the three persons were produced before the court, the police official said.
Since January 2023, as many as 1018 individuals have been arrested for illegally entering India from Bangladesh through Tripura, police data showed.
Among those detained were 498 Bangladeshi citizens, 396 Indian nationals, and 124 Rohingyas.
Tripura shares a 856 km long international border with Bangladesh.
