The meeting, originally slated for April 2025, will now be rescheduled.
The tripartite talks between the Government of India, the Government of Manipur, and the United Naga Council (UNC), aimed at resolving the contentious issue of new district creation in Manipur, have been deferred. The meeting, originally slated for April 2025, will now be rescheduled.
Adviser (North-East) A.K. Mishra informed the United Naga Council about the deferment through an official letter addressed to the Council’s President.
In the letter, AK Mishra stated that during the last round of talks held on January 30, all parties had mutually agreed to hold the next round of discussions in April 2025. However, due to unavoidable circumstances, the proposed meeting could not take place.
He expressed regret over the delay and assured that a new date would be fixed and communicated to the United Naga Council in due course. The talks are crucial as they are expected to address long-standing issues related to the creation of new districts in Manipur, which has remained a contentious matter among various communities.
