The jumbo died after it came in contact with an 11,000-volt high-voltage electric wire

In a tragic incident, a wild tusker was electrocuted in Madhupur Paroliguri in Dibrugarh today after it came in contact with an 11,000-volt high-voltage electric wire.

The power line, which has been hanging dangerously low over agricultural fields for over two years, pose a significant threat to both humans and wildlife in the area.

Due to the negligence of the local electricity department, farmers have been unable to access their fields freely, as the exposed power line makes the area hazardous.

Despite several complaints from residents, the Dibrugarh Electricity Department has failed to take corrective action.

The incident, which led to the death of the elephant, highlights the ongoing danger and the department’s failure to address the situation. The lack of accountability and action from the concerned authorities has now resulted in this heart-breaking loss, putting both lives and livelihoods at risk.
