Traffic Restrictions Imposed on NH-10 in Sikkim. Know the Restrictions While Travelling from Sevok to Rongpo

Sikkim Traffic Restriction: The office order, issued under Section 33 of the Control of National Highway (Land and Traffic) Act, 2002.

In view of the rough weather condition and consequent landslides in Sikkim traffic restrictions have been imposed on National Highway-10.

The Highway Administrator of NH-10 has issued an office order imposing immediate traffic restrictions along key stretches of the Sevoke to Rangpo National Highway section, citing safety concerns.The regulation, effective from June 5, 2025, places a laden weight limit of up to 4 metric tonnes (MT) for commercial vehicles traveling along critical points on the highway. The restricted areas include:
Km 26–27 (Likhubeer),Km 33–35 (Melli),Km 38–39 (Kirney) and Km 49.98 (Andheri)

However, exemptions have been made on a case-to-case basis for:NHIDCL, IRCON, and NHPC vehicles engaged in NH-10 repair and maintenance,Emergency services such as fire brigades and ambulances,Disaster management vehicles,Armed forces transport and Public transport buses.

The directive will remain in force until further notice. The office order, issued under Section 33 of the Control of National Highway (Land and Traffic) Act, 2002, permits only light commercial vehicles under the specified weight limit to ply through the affected zones.

Further,the District Administration has been authorized to make additional arrangements to ensure the smooth movement of traffic and coordination of emergency and essential services.
