In a tragic incident, three children, aged 7 to 12 years, drowned in Khowai River in Tripura. They had gone for a bath in the river.

The incident took place at Paschim Ganki’s Poharmura village in the Khowai district on Sunday, police informed.

Another six-year-old boy, Ayan Das, was rescued by his grandfather, who had accompanied all the four children.
The deceased have been identified as Saptadip Nama, 7 (boy), Bablu Rai, 9 (female), and Moutushi Das, 12 (female).

Jugal Tripura, Police officer of the Khowai police station said that at around 11.30 a.m they received the information that three kids had drowned.

“As soon as we got the information, our staff from the police station rushed to the spot and recovered two bodies, while the third body was found after searching for more than one and a half hours. The bodies have been shifted to Khowai district hospital,” the police officer said.
