On the thirteenth day on Friday, after the deadth of the monkey, Sunderkand Paath and Bhandara were organized for the deceased monkey according to the traditionms of the Hindu religion

It was a funeral with a difference. Often people tend to do special things for their pets like celebrate their birthdays in a grand manner or even organise funerals. But people of a village in Amethi, UP, held a funeral for a stray monkey who had died in the village following some illness.

The funeral was complete with Sunderkand Paath (reading of the Hindu scriptures) and Bhandara (open kitchen). Thousands of people also attended the Brahmbhoj (feast) organized on the occasion as per Hindu tradition.

Reportedly, the monkey had come to the village and died thirteen days later. The villagers cremated the monkey just like they would cremate a human being.

Hindus also consider monkeys to be manifestation of Hanuman (half monkey-half human) who was a devoted follower of Lord Ram and because of his love and devotion to Lord Ram and his wife Sita, Hanuman came to be worshipped as Lord Hanuman.
