TCL voices against militancy: Locals lodge FIR, raise protest

The business community of Borduria have lodged an FIR against the NSCN militant leader Lolium Latey Lowang.

The voice of the common people against militancy in the Tirap-Changlang-Longding region of Arunachal Pradesh is growing louder.

Now the business community of the Borduria village in Tirap district have raised their voices against the rampant extortion activities by the NSCN’s Nikki Sumi faction.

The business community of Borduria have lodged an FIR against the NSCN militant leader Lolium Latey Lowang for conducting rampant extortion in the area and harassing the business community.

The FIR names the dreaded militant for extorting a sum of Rs 86,000 from the business community of Borduria.

With this FIR, the business community, especially the shopkeepers and small business owners of Borduria, have called upon the authorities to act swiftly and free them from the menace of militancy.

The local shopkeepers and businessmen also raised a banner of protests against the harrassment by militants and appealed to the government for swift action against the culprits.

A self-styled lieutenant colonel, Loliam Latey Lowang, has been carrying out extortion in the area and has been targeting businessmen in the name of the NSCN’s Nikki Sumi faction.

The continued incidents of militancy and extortion have seen a strong response from the people of the Tirap-Changlang-Longding region of Arunachal in the past.
