Tawang Police Holds District-Level NCORD Meeting to Strengthen Efforts Against Drug Trafficking

Tawang Police conducted a crucial District-level Narcotics Coordination Committee (NCORD) meeting today at the Deputy Commissioner’s office, with a focus on enhancing inter-agency coordination to combat narcotics-related activities in the region.
The meeting, chaired by the in-charge Deputy Commissioner of Tawang, Sang Khandu, along with key officials, including Deputy Superintendent of Police (Dy. SP) Tawang Tasso Kato, Divisional Forest Officer Piyush Gaikwad, DDSE Tawang Hridar Phuntsok, and representatives from both state and central intelligence agencies, paramilitary forces, and Bazaar Committee Secretaries.
The Dy.SP presented a detailed overview of ongoing anti-narcotics efforts in the district, emphasizing the role of local community leaders, including Bazaar Secretaries and Gaon Burahs, in gathering crucial intelligence to identify and apprehend drug traffickers. He urged these leaders to actively share information to help authorities combat drug-related crimes.
Bazaar Secretaries suggested conducting surprise inspections in local markets to uncover any illicit narcotics activities. Representatives from the Intelligence Bureau and paramilitary forces also contributed valuable suggestions to improve coordination and response strategies.
In his concluding remarks, Deputy Commissioner Sang Khandu stressed the importance of holding regular NCORD meetings to stay vigilant against narcotics threats. While narcotics-related incidents in Tawang are currently low, he highlighted the need for increased awareness and proactive measures to prevent any future escalation and ensure community safety.
