Supreme Court to hear petitions challenging CAA tomorrow

Delegations of the All Assam Students Union (AASU) and the Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) have left for the national capital for the crucial hearing on Citizenship (Amendment) Bill on Wednesday, January 22.
The Supreme Court will hear petitions filed against the Citizenship Amendment Bill by a host of groups and organisations from Assam tomorrow.
Meanwhile, reactions came in from AASU general secretary Lurin Jyoti Gogoi, he believes that the Supreme Court will put a stay order on the implementation of Citizenship Amendment Act. AJYCP general secretary Palash Jyoti Changmai also echoed similar sentiments.
It may be mentioned that in the first hearing of the anti-CAA petitions on December 18, the apex court had issued notices to Centre on the petitions challenging the constitutional validity of Citizenship Amendment Act.
