STF Chief, IGP Partha Sarathi Mahanta Appointed CP, Guwahati, Diganta Barah Transferred to Special Branch

The government today appointed Chief of Special Task Force, IGP Partha Sarathi Mahanta as Commissioner of Police (CP), Guwahati.

In some top level reshuffle in Assam Police, the government today appointed Chief of Special Task Force, IGP Partha Sarathi Mahanta as Commissioner of Police (CP), Guwahati. He replaces current CP Diganta Barah.

Mahanta will continue to head the Special Task Force, the official order issued today said.

IGP Barah has been transferred to Special Branch of Assam Police and will be posted in the Kahilipara office. Barah has also been given the charge of Director, Lachit Barphukan Police Academy, Dergaon.

In other changes, Akhilesh Kumar Singh, IPS (RR-2003), Inspector General of Police (T&AP), has been transferred and posted as Inspector General of Police (Law & Order), Assam. Singh will continue to function as Inspector General of Police (Communication), Assam as additional charge.

Vivek Raj Singh, IGP (MPC) has been transferred and posted as IGP (T&AP). He will continue to function as Inspector General of Police (MPC), Assam and Inspector General of Police (BTAD), Kokrajhar as additional charges.

Lachit Baruah, IPS (SPS-2004), who was posted as Inspector General of Police (SB), Assam and functioned as Managing Director, Assam Police Housing Corporation Ltd., Rehabari, Guwahati is transferred and will continue to hold the post of Managing Director, Assam Police Housing Corporation Ltd., Rehabari, Guwahati, the order said.

Prasanta Kumar Bhuyan, IPS (SPS2004), Inspector General of Police (Law & Order), Assam is transferred and posted as Inspector General of Police (Admn.), Assam.
