South Tripura ADM’s Chairs, Tables Seized To Repay Rs 42.95 Lakh as Compensation for Land to a Local

According to court orders, the ADM was directed to pay Dilip Das a total of Rs 42,95,062, including interest.

In a an interesting turn of events, chair, table, and other office items belonging to the Additional District Magistrate of South Tripura district has been seized to repay Rs 42.95 Lakh as compensation to a local who had approached the district court stating that he did not receive the compensation money in lieu of his land that was acquied by the Railways.

Following orders from Judge Gobinda Das, officials of the District Court of Belonia, seized the chair, table, and other office items belonging to the Additional District Magistrate who also serves as the Land Acquisition Collector of the district to pay Dilip Das, a resident of the area adjacent to Belonia Railway Station, who alleged that he had not received fair compensation for land acquired by the Railways Department. His case has been pending for a long time.

According to court orders, the ADM was directed to pay Dilip Das a total of Rs 42,95,062, including interest. The principal compensation amount was over Rs 20.90 lakh, while the accumulated interest had exceeded Rs 22 lakh.

On Monday, acting on the court’s directive enforcement officials arrived at the ADM’s office and seized the chair, table, and other government property.

The items were loaded into a vehicle and taken away in full public view, shocking staff members and local residents alike.

The incident has stirred discussions in administrative and legal circles, raising questions about the execution of land acquisition compensations and the state’s responsiveness to legal directives.
