Bhutia's statement comes right after he arrived in Sikkim today post his crushing defeat at the recent elections for the All India Football Federation president.
Indian football legend and Hamro Sikkim party supremo Bhaichung Bhutia has said that there are certain people who are trying to show themselves as representatives of the Northeast but are actually working just for their personal and political gains.
Bhutia’s statement comes right after he arrived in Sikkim today post his crushing defeat at the recent elections for the All India Football Federation president.
Bhutia made the statement after arriving at Rangpo where he was given a grand welcome. Bhutia stated that it is high time that the people of the Northeast and Sikkim select people who can be their true representatives and who don’t work for their own personal benefits.
Noteworthy here is that Bhutia suffered a crushing defeat at the recently held elections for the president’s post of the AIFF.
Bhutia was defeated 33-1 in the elections which led to former Mohan Bagan goalkeeper Kalyan Chaubey being elected as the new AIFF president. After the elections, Bhutia alleged that there has been a lot of interference in the elections including political pressure that led to his defeat.
Bhutia, in the meantime, has said that he is going to hold a press conference tomorrow where he will talk in detail about the matter.
