SKM secures historic victory in Sikkim Assembly Elections 2024

With this result, Prem Singh Tamang is set to become Chief Minister for a second term.
In a landmark electoral victory, the ruling Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) has swept the Sikkim Assembly elections 2024, winning an overwhelming 31 out of the total 32 Assembly seats.
With this result, Prem Singh Tamang is set to become Chief Minister for a second term.
The opposition Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) has managed to win only one seat-Syari.
While newly floated Citizen Action Party (CAP) and BJP failed to even win a single seat.
Incumbent Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang had contested from Rhenock Assembly seat in Gangtok district and Soreng-Chakung Assembly seat in Soreng district.
He won the Rhenock seat defeating SDF candidate Som Nath Poudyal with a margin of 7044 votes.
He won the Soreng-Chakung seat defeating SDF’s Dr. A D Subba with a margin of 5128 votes.
In the 2019 Assembly elections, the SKM won 17 seats, while the SDF secured 15 seats.
