However, no recent burials or missing person reports have been filed in the area, adding further complexity to the case.

In a possible breakthrough in the case of missing Guwahati dentist Dr Debenjit Kumar Sharma, skeletal remains were discovered near Tezu in Arunachal Pradesh’s Lohit district, reigniting hopes of a resolution after 26 days of mystery and unanswered questions.

Dr. Sharma had gone missing near Parshuram Kund, a revered pilgrimage site, earlier this month. Since then, his disappearance has baffled investigators and deeply unsettled his family and the public. The skeletal remains were recovered on Friday during a routine search along the banks of the Lohit River, downstream from the area where he was last seen.

Speaking to Northeast Live, Lohit Deputy Superintendent of Police Maga Tago confirmed the find and explained that two key possibilities are currently under investigation: either the remains belong to Dr Sharma or they are that of an individual buried along the riverbank as per local customs.

However, no recent burials or missing person reports have been filed in the area, adding further complexity to the case.

To confirm identity, Dr. Sharma’s mother has reached Lohit to provide a DNA sample, which will be matched with the remains. Authorities have cautioned that DNA analysis could take several months, delaying any final conclusions.

While officials tread carefully, Dr. Sharma’s family continues to demand a transparent and scientifically driven investigation. They remain hopeful, but the prolonged uncertainty has taken a deep emotional toll.
