Situation in Tura and the state is normal: Meghalaya Dy CM Prestone Tynsong

Tynsong further said that since most of the members who are arrested belong to political parties, it seems this is politically motivated
The situation in Meghalaya including Tura town, where violence erupted recently is normal and under control, said Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong today.
Tynsong praised the state police for its tireless effort in maintaining law and order in the state and once again requested all the police forces to be more aggressive on such issues whenever happen.
When asked about his views on possible security lapses in the Tura violence, the Deputy CM said, ” No it was not that, but we need to improve it (security arrangements) further to ensure such incidents can be contained in advance.”
Tynsong further said, “Since most of the members who are arrested belong to political parties, it seems this is politically motivated or a political agenda. However, everything will be clear after a thorough investigation. So, let the law take its own course.”
Talking about TMC leader and former state Chief Minister Mukul Sangma’s demand for an independent inquiry into the arrest of youth leader Richard Mrong Marak, Tynsong said, “Mukul Sangma himself was the Chief Minister for over 8 years. So by talking that way, is he trying to say that at that time when he was the CM, he used all the police officers for his own interest? and if that is so, it is so unfortunate.”
It may be mentioned here that on July 24 night, a mob gheraoed Chief Minister Conrad Sangma’s office in Tura, pelted stones and attacked his office while he was inside in a meeting with his cabinet colleague and PHE minister Marcuise N Marak and members of NGOs hearing their demands and grievances in which five police personnel were injured.
CM Sangma said that he agreed to meet the members of A’chik Conscious Holistically Integrated Krima (ACHIK) at their convenient venue since they had some concerns about Roster System and demand to declare Tura as the winter capital.
Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said that acts of violence would not be tolerated and “the law will be very firm” on any act of violence. He said that there is a line which people should not cross, and this time the line has been crossed.
Meghalaya DGP LR Bishnoi said that the attack was pre-planned and was aimed at causing physical damage to Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, even go to the extent of murdering him.
So far 42 persons including TMC’s youth leader Richard Marak, and two Mahila Morcha leaders of BJP and NPP worker Jeakson Sangma have been arrested in charge of instigating the violence.
