Ahead of the Sikkim Assembly elections early next year, the newly formed Citizen Action Party (CAP) on Friday unveiled its election symbol, ‘Nagarik’ (Citizen), at a special event held at Rangpo.
The party symbol is a crucial step in establishing a visual identity that voters can associate with the party’s values and ideologies.
On December 1, the Election Commission of India (ECI) recognised CAP as a political party of Sikkim and the party its symbol on December 28.
Earlier, CAP sent three symbols for consideration to the ECI, following which the ECI has approved one symbol for the party.
Once a symbol is reserved by a party, it becomes an integral part of its branding strategy.
The CAP was formed in January this year and is led by President Laxmi Prasad Kafley.
Kafley also announced that CAP would be contesting in all the 32 Assembly seats without entering into a coalition with any other political party for the upcoming Assembly polls.
He also informed that CAP will be campaigning without any flag for the elections.
