Sikkim to issue online permit for visiting restricted areas

Sonam Tenzing Bhutia, IG Check post said the new online system for applying for permits for restricted areas came into effect on September 7.
The Himalayan state best known for its beautiful tourist sites will be facilitating online permits for people visiting restricted areas of the state.
Tourists as well as locals looking forward to visiting the restricted areas of Sikkim can apply for permits online. Sikkim Police has also done away with the old queuing system to apply for permits to visit restricted areas.
Speaking to the media, Sonam Tenzing Bhutia, IG Check post said the new online system for applying for permits for restricted areas came into effect on September 7.
Local residents including government servants can make online permit applications through Service Plus Mobile Application while tourists need to apply through their respective travel agents.
It needs to be mentioned here that people planning to visit places like Tsomgo, Nathula, Baba Mandir, Kupup, and Zuluk in East Sikkim and places in North Sikkim like Lachung, Lachen, Gurudongmar Lake need to apply for a permit to visit these places.
