Sikkim Statehood Day: 4 state Govt officials conferred Sikkim Sewa Samman award

The awards were given for their selfless and dedicated service
Four senior Sikkim government officials were conferred Sikkim Sewa Samman awards for their selfless and dedicated service on the occasion of 48th Sikkim Statehood Day today.
The awardees are–Resident Commissioner of Sikkim House, New Delhi, Ashwini Kumar Chand, Secretary of Health Department, Tsewang Gyachho Bhutia, Secretary of Women and Child Development, Ganga Devi Pradhan, and the well known cardiologist of STNM Hospital Dr DP Rai.
They were conferred the awards by Governor of Sikkim Lakshman Prasad Acharya and Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang at an event at Gangtok.
Ashwani Kumar Chand was given the award for his contribution in rescuing students from the violence that struck Manipur earlier this week and Ukraine last year and for his work during COVID-19 outbreak in the state.
Ganga Devi Pradhan was honoured for her work for women and children, especially the implementation of the Aama Scheme.
Tsewang Gyasto Bhutia received the award for his contribution to the health sector, significantly during COVID-19 outbreak in the state.
Dr. D P Rai, who is a well known cardiologist was given the award for his contribution to health sector.
May 16 marks the statehood of the Himalayan state and Sikkim is celebrating its 48th statehood day today. It was on this day in 1975 that Sikkim had become the 22nd state of the Union of India.
Governor of Sikkim, Lakshman Prasad Acharya graced the celebrations at Gangtok as the chief guest and Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang was the special guest.
As part of the celebrations, Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang also flagged off 8 ambulances for government colleges. Additionally, a Mobile Village Clinic awareness video was also released.
