Four more persons have tested positive for COVID-19 in Sikkim on Wednesday, taking the total cases count in the Himalayan state to 83.

All 4 individuals are from a single quarantine centre in state capital Gangtok and have been admitted to the isolation ward of STNM hospital in Namchi.

The state now has 54 active cases while 29 patients have been recovered from the disease so far.

It may be mentioned that Sikkim was one of the states to take tightest possible measures to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus. These included highly restricted entry.

Despite having high dependency on tourism, the state decided to keep its doors closed for the tourists till October 2020.
