Sikkim CM Declares To Pass Resolution Titled ‘Limboo-Tamang Tribal Seat Reservation’ In Upcoming Legislative Assembly Session

Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang on Saturday declared that the state government will pass a resolution titled ‘Limboo-Tamang Tribal Seat Reservation’ in the upcoming Sikkim Legislative Assembly session.
This move aims to secure seat reservations for the Limboo and Tamang communities, a longstanding demand in the state.
The announcement was made during the state-level celebration of ‘Chasok Tongnam’, the harvest festival of the Limboo community, where the organizing committee reiterated their demand for the reservation.
During the festival, CM Tamang assured the gathering of the government’s commitment to addressing the issue.
The Chief Minister informed that while a resolution on the matter was already passed in 2003, the issue remains unresolved to date.
He emphasized that the upcoming resolution will specifically focus on the Limboo-Tamang Seat Reservation and will be forwarded to the Central Government for approval.
Taking to social media, he said, “I had the pleasure of attending the State-level Chasok Tongnam celebrations held at Saramsa Garden, East Sikkim. In my address, I highlighted the unwavering support provided by our government to religious and social organizations and reaffirmed our commitment to continue this endeavor. I also informed the gathering about the Yuma Manghim in Darap and shared our plans to construct similar Manghims at various locations across the state. Furthermore, I emphasized our government’s efforts to preserve the sanctity of Sirijunga Falls and the Holy Cave, sites of immense cultural and spiritual significance to the Limboo community, through the proposed alternative alignment.”
“During the event, I was delighted to release the 53rd and 54th editions of INGSA and urged everyone to actively safeguard and preserve our rich cultural heritage while adapting to the demands of changing times. I appealed to everyone to uphold the sanctity of communal harmony, peace and unity in the state and strengthen our resolve to work towards a common goal”, Tamang said.
“Additionally, I briefly apprised the gathering of our government’s continued efforts to fulfill the aspirations of the people and reiterated our steadfast commitment to addressing their needs,” Sikkim CM further added.
