The recovered arms and ammunition have been secured and handed over to the police for further legal proceedings.
In a significant security operation aimed at dismantling illegal arms networks, a joint team of the Indian Army and Manipur Police Commandos from Imphal West successfully recovered a hidden cache of weapons in the dense jungles of Sandum Hill Range near Loitang Khullen village in Imphal West. The operation was launched based on credible intelligence inputs indicating the presence of illicit arms stockpiled in the area.
During the search, security personnel noticed a patch of freshly dug earth, which raised suspicions. Upon careful excavation, they discovered a Self-Loading Rifle (SLR) with a magazine, a 9mm pistol, two Hand-Held Radio Sets (HHRS), and two No. 36 Hand Grenades. Security forces believe the cache was strategically hidden for potential use by anti-social elements.
The recovered arms and ammunition have been secured and handed over to the police for further legal proceedings. This successful operation marks a significant step in curbing the illegal proliferation of arms in the region.
In another coordinated search operation and area domination exercise conducted by security forces in the eastern side of IVR between the foothills and Uyok forest under Nambol Police Station in Bishnupur District, a large stockpile of weapons and explosives was recovered.
The recovered items include one 5.56 mm INSAS Rifle, two 9 mm Carbine Machine Guns, one .303 Modified Sniper Rifle with a magnifier scope, one Single-Barrel Breech Loading (SBBL) Gun, one pistol, four No. 36 Hand Grenades, three 12-bore live cartridges, one 9 mm CMG empty magazine, two Tear Gas Grenades, four Anti-Riot Rubber Bullets, one Tear Smoke Shell (CS), one Tube Launcher 1A for No. 36 Grenades, four live HD Cartridges used in grenade launchers, and two Wood Piercing Shells.
Security forces remain vigilant and have intensified monitoring efforts to prevent any future attempts at illegal arms proliferation in the region.
