Schools Timings In Gangtok Municipal Area Rescheduled To Ease Traffic Congestion

The Education Department of Sikkim has revised school timings for both government and private schools to mitigate severe traffic congestion

The Education Department of Sikkim has revised school timings for both government and private schools within the Gangtok Municipal Corporation (GMC) area to mitigate severe traffic congestion during peak hours with some exceptions.

Starting November 5, 2024, government schools in Gangtok will start from 8:00 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. But schools running on double shifts, including Sichey Senior Secondary School (SSS), CS Rai Arithang Secondary school (SS), and Bojoghari Senior Secondary School (SSS), will continue as per their existing schedules. Private schools will start from 8:00 a.m. and wrap up between 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m., depending on individual timetables.

This revised timing applies to government schools such as Deorali Girls SSS, Sir TNSSS, Modern SSS, West Point SSS, Enchey SSS, Tadong SSS, Lumsey SSS, and more. Private institutions like Holy Cross SSS, St. Thomas School, and Mount Zion School are also expected to adhere to the changes.
