Sanjay Verma Is Raj Kushwaha, Sonam’s 119 Calls Were to Raj Under the Fake Name of Sanjay Verma

Sonam Raghuvanshi, the prime accused and wife of the deceased, had exchanged 119 phone calls with Raj Kushwaha between March 1 and March 25.
In a stunning revelation that has added yet another layer of complexity to the murder of Indore-based tourist Raja Raghuvanshi, Meghalaya’s East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police Vivek Syiem confirmed to North East Live that the mysterious individual named Sanjay Verma – whose name emerged during the investigation does not exist. Instead, the mobile number linked to Verma was actually registered under Raj Kushwaha’s name, with “Sanjay Verma” being a fictitious identity saved in Truecaller.
Earlier reports suggested that Sonam Raghuvanshi, the prime accused and wife of the deceased, had exchanged 119 phone calls with Raj Kushwaha between March 1 and March 25. This led investigators to believe that a new figure had emerged in the plot.
However, with this fresh revelation, it now appears those calls were made by Raj to Sonam, raising unsettling questions about manipulation, identity masking, and intent.
As the probe widens, the five accused — Sonam Raghuvanshi, Raj Kushwaha, Vishal Chauhan, Akash Rajput, and Anand Kurme will be produced before the court today. Meghalaya Police are expected to seek an extension of remand, citing several pending angles in the investigation.
What initially appeared to be a case nearing closure with the arrest of the main conspirators has now turned more complex. Earlier, the name Jitendra Raghuvanshi had surfaced, linked to questionable financial transactions. Sonam was reportedly managing or linked to an account under Jitendra’s name, adding weight to the theory that financial motives played a significant role in the murder plot.
Investigators have also confirmed that some of Raja Raghuvanshi’s valuables, including gold and diamond jewelry, are still missing. The possibility of robbery being a motive has not been ruled out. Strikingly, none of the accused have prior criminal records, prompting authorities to suspect a “meeting of minds” where monetary lure and emotional influence may have come together to drive the conspiracy.
Adding to the intrigue, police are trying to locate Ujwala Yadav, a woman who sat next to Sonam on a bus journey from Varanasi to Ghazipur. Officials are working to determine whether the travel was purely coincidental or orchestrated.
Investigators are also reviewing CCTV footage and ticketing records after confirming that Sonam boarded a night bus from ISBT Guwahati to Siliguri following the murder.
In yet another offshoot, authorities are looking to question Devi Singh, who posted two videos on social media believed to contain crucial leads connected to the case.
What began as a shocking murder has now evolved into a web of secrets, false identities, financial intrigue, and possible premeditated conspiracy.
With each passing day, new names and connections surface, painting a picture far more complex than initially imagined. As the court proceedings continue, investigators remain tight-lipped but determined to uncover every layer of this deeply disturbing saga.
